The total amount of paint required is 25 Kgs.
The amount allowed for wastage is15% which is equivalent to:
15/100 × 25=3.75kgs
For us to use exactly 25kgs and allow for wastage, we will require :
25 + 3.75kgs=28.75Kgs.
The paint comes in 2kg cans so the total number of cans required is:
28.75/2=14.375cans
Since we can't have a fraction of a can the amount of cans required is 15 cans.
Each can costs Rs 16
The total cost is therefore :
16 × 15= 240
The cost of paint purchased is thus:
Rs 240.
