A house painter mixes yellow paint to get green paint .The ratio of the yellow paint to the volume of the blue paint is 5:3 . If the difference in volumes of the two paints is 500 ml, find the volume of green paint .

let them be 5x and 3x
5x=3x+500
5x-3x=500
2x=500
x=250
volume of yellow paint is 250×5 which is 1250ml
volume of blue paint is 250×3 which is 750ml
therefore, volume of green paint is 1250+750 which is 2000 ml
