A hovercraft moves much more smoothly than a land vehicle .Why ?

This is because a hovercraft uses an air cushion to push itself off from the ground. So, in a way the hovercraft is almost flying . In this way, it's body is not in contact with the bumps on the ground and there is very little friction.

Hence, the hovercraft can move very smoothly.
