ANSWER !!!

AIR POLLUTION -

(a) the main cause of air pollution is the presence of a higher proportion of undesirable gases like carbon dioxide carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide .

(b) the use of fossil fuels all the time increases the proportion of the such gases in the air .

(c) the air pollutant chemical such as dust smoke ,fume, etc contain both solid and liquid particles . smoke is emitted by chemical and paper factory , brickkilns, Refineries ,and smelting plant and burning of fossil fuels in big and small factories .

WATER POLLUTION -

(a) with increasing industrialisation, Industrial effluents are being continuously discharged into rivers and other water bodies. which comprise both organic and inorganic materials which pollute the water heavily .

(b) some common pollutants of water at pesticides fertilizer Types of plastic rubber detergent acidity suppliers phospho-gypsum and iron and Steels legs are the major solid waste used in India responsible for water pollution .

(c) most polluting industries are textile chemical petroleum refinery tannery and pulp etc.

&

(1) THERMAL POLLUTION -

(a) thermal pollution of water occurs when hot water from factories and Thermal Power plants is drained into rivers and Ponds before calling it has harmful effect on the aquatic life .

(b) wastes from nuclear power plants cause cancer birth defects and miscarriages. dumping of wastage harmful Chemicals industrial effulents renders the soil useless rainwater percolates to the soil carrying the pollutants to the ground and the ground water gets contaminated .

(2) NOISE POLLUTION -

the industrial noise is called by huge mechanical saws and drills generators equipments construction activities etc obtain becomes unbearable it is a nuisance to public in general it may cause damage to our hearing ability.

& last

SOME WAYS TO CONTROL ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION ARE AS FOLLOWS -

(1) water can be controlled by properly treating the waste prior to its discharge into the rivers and ponds .

(2) the requirements of water can be met by harvesting rain water.

(3) Overdrawing of groundwater reserves by industry needs to be regulated legally .

(4) smoke from the industries can be minimised by using oil or gas in place of coal.

(5) particulate matter in the air can be reduced by fitting smoke stacks to factories with electrostatic precipitator fabric filters scrubbers and interior separators .

(6) machinery must be redesigned to increase energy efficiency and reduce noise generator should be fitted with silencers .

Industries have contributed to air and water pollution by:
Air pollution :
Toxic gases released by the industries
Gas leakage from the industries

Water pollution :
Sewage and untreated chemicals released into
water bodies.
Wastewater released directly into water bodies.

Thermal pollution :
Hot water is released by industries into water bodies which raises the temperature of water as a result of which the oxygen dissolved in water gets depleted and aquatic animals die.

Ways to control environmental degradation :
Plant more trees.
Prevent using commodities which release greenhouse gases.
Use environment - friendly and renewable fuels in automobiles.
Use solar energy
Only fully treated and neutralised domestic and industrial sewage should be released in water bodies.
Excretion or immersion of idols in water bodies should be prevented.

Noise pollution :
Machines used in industries usually work at high frequencies producing a loud noise which disturbs people in the neighbouring areas and often renders the workers deaf.
