How is food prepared and served at wedding parties?

Depends on where you're from.

Generally though, it's a feast. In Australia, it's generally a heavy gourmet, spit roast and barbecue types of food, like those provided by catering services like .au.

In Indian weddings however, it's totally different. I went to one in Australia, and my stomach burned for at least three days, having never eaten Indian food before.

Some simply yet yum foods that are quite often served in several wedding ceremonies:
