We can find out whether a chunk of solid element is a metal or non metal by following ways:

• Metals have high melting point and high boiling point varies non metal have low boiling point and low melting point.

• metals are the good conductor of heat and electricity except tungsten on the other hand non metals are bad conductors of heat and electricity except graphite.

• Metals are maleable and ductile means they can be drawn into wire and sheets but non metals are non ductile and non maleable

• Metals have high density and produce sonorous sound varies non metals have low density and do not produce any sonorous sound .

• Metals have luster i.e, shine but non metals do not have any shine .
