A huge population is not necessarily an indicator of economic development because

(a) A huge population can turn on to a liability.

If a country cannot richly supply its population with education and social order it turns on to a liable population despite of becoming an asset.

(b) It can lead to over unemployment and disturbed social order .

(c) As development is closely related to population as average income is counted a liable population will turn down this rate thus will decline rate of development.
