We know that the molecular mass of Na2SO3 is = 126g.

Since, from the question we know that the  water is 50 % by mass ,this implies that Na2SO3 is also 50 % by mass.

So, we can conclude that the ratios of Water and Na2SO3 is 1 : 1 .

Now, putting this ratios in the form of equation we get.

126/ 18 x = 1/1 .

So, 126 = 18 x.

Hence, x = 126 /18 = 7 .

Thus on solving we get the value of x = 7 hence the formula is Na2SO3.7H20.
