Answer & Explanation:

Yes, Hydrogen is prepared by Bosch process.

i. At first, heated coke is taken and it is mixed with water at 3000°C in a specially built chamber to form water gas.

C + H₂O --> [CO+H₂]

                  (water gas)

ii. Then, we would be using some more water to the water gas using the catalyst Fe₃O₄ in a specific pressure of 200-900mm at 450°C.

[CO+H₂O] + H₂O --> CO₂ + H₂

(water gas)

iii. Then, for separating CO₂ and CO, we would be doing the following:

  • For separating CO₂, mix the products in a KOH (Potassium Oxide) solution.
  • For separating some remaining CO, mix the products in Ammoniacal Cuprous (II) Chloride.

That's it, Hydrogen will be separated and it'll be extracted.

Hope this helps.
