apical meristem is removed to reduce increase of plant. apical meristem Is a type of meristamatic tissue which helps in growth of plants shoot and root. it is present in two forms root apical meristem amd shoot apical meristem. increasing root and shoot of plant respectively. it is known as primary growth.

the other two types of meristem are lateral meristem and intercalary meristem.

lateral meristem is present at the lateral position it helps in increase of gidth and width of plant. it is known as secondary growth.
