a In the first stage of photosynthesis, chlorophyll , the green substance in leaves absorbs sunlight. The energy is used to split water into oxygen and hydrogen. In the second stage, the chlorophyll uses the energy absorbed from sunlight to combine hydrogen with carbon dioxide. Then, the hydrogen and carbon dioxide combine in such a way that a carbohydrate is produced. The carbohydrate is called glucose. Later using glucose, the plant makes amino acids and proteins. These are used for the plant to grow. This is how plants get their nourishment and produce the substances that make the life and growth of animals possible. (make it as flow chart)
