The ratio of their efficiencies = A:B = 3:1

Again it's given that they are able to do the whole work in 15 days. This means in one day they can do 1/15th of the work.

Let's get back to the ratio of their efficiencies again which is 3:1. It means if of A does 3 units of a work in a day then B does 1 unit of work. They together thus as per the ratio do 4 units of the work which is equal to 1/15th of the work.

4 = 1/15
1 = 1/60

Then 3 = 3×1/60= 1/20.

so 1/20 is the efficiency of A. This means A completes 1/20th of the work in a day meaning he will complete the work in 20 days. --- Answer
