Explanation:

Let, the age of B be x and the age of A be 2x.

Hence, 5 years ago B was three times as old.

According to the sum,

2x - 5 = 3 ( X - 5 )

=> 2x - 5 = 3x - 15

=> 3x - 2x = 15 - 5

=> X = 15 - 5

=> X = 10.

Age of A is 2X ,.i.e., 2×10 = 20 years ; age of B is X ,.i.e. 10 years. ( ANS )
