Given :  A jar cotains 81 balls each of which is red ,blue ,green .

the probability of selecting a red ball is 1/3 and that of blue is 4/9 .

To Find : How many green balls does the jar contains

Solution:

probability of selecting a red ball  = Number of red balls/ Total balls

=> 1/3  = red ball /81

=> red balls = 27

probability of selecting a blue ball  = Number of  blue balls/ Total balls

=>4/9  =  blue/81

=>  blue balls =36

Red Balls + blue balls +green balls = Total

=> 27 + 36  +  green balls = 81

=>  green balls = 18

Answer:

We know,

P(getting red ball) = 1/4

P(getting blue ball) = 1/3

Let the no. of balls = x

Therefore, P(getting orange ball) = 10/x

We know,

P(getting red ball) + P(getting blue ball) + P(getting orange ball) = 1

⇒1/4 + 1/3 + 10/x = 1

⇒10/x = 1 -1/4 -1/3

⇒10/x = 1 - 7/12

⇒10/x = 5/12

⇒10 * 12 = 5 * x

⇒x = 24

Therefore, the no. of balls = x

                                          = 24

Hope This helps :)
