A kids’ swimming pool is in the form of a cylinder, whose diameter is 2.8 m and depth is 0.7m.

To disinfect the water, 5 drops (approx 0.25 ml) of disinfectant is needed per litre of water. If the pool is full of water, how much disinfectant is required? (Take pi as = 22/7)

Answer:

Disinfectant quantity need is 1.078 ltrs

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Swimming pool shape = cylinder

           Diameter D = 2.8 m

           Depth H= 0.7 m

Disinfectant  needed = 0.25 ml per litre of water

           Total disinfectant needed = ?

Solution : Volume of Pool(cylinder) = π x D²/4 x H

                                                         = 22/7 x 2.8²/4 x 0.7

                                                         = (22 x2.8 x 2.8 x 0.7)/28

                                                         = 4.312 m³

                          1 m³ = 1000 litre

                                                          = 4.312 x 1000

                                                          = 4312 lts

Since pool is full of water, then volume of water = 4312 lts

Total disinfectant needed = volume of water x dosing per litre

                                           = 4312 x 0.25

                                           = 1078 ml

                                           = 1.078 ltr
