Given :  A kite is formed by an equilateral triangle with sides 6 cm and an isosceles triangle with legs 5cm.

To  Find :   the area of the kite

Solution:

area of the kite = Area of Equilateral triangle + area of isosceles triangle

Side of Equilateral triangle  = 6 cm

=> Area of Equilateral triangle = (√3 / 4) * 6²  = 9√3  = 15.59 cm²

Side of  Equilateral triangle   6 cm will be base of isosceles triangle

leg of isosceles triangle  are  5 cm

s = ( 5 + 5 + 6)/2 = 8

Area of isosceles triangle   =  √8(8 - 6)(8 - 5)(8-5)

= √8 * 2 * 3 * 3

= 12 cm²

the area of the kite = 15.59 + 12

=> the area of the kite = 27.59  cm²
