As it is said in the ques. That the length of the ladder is 17m and the the length of the wall from window to floor is 15m

Here we have to find the distance from the foot of the ladder to the wall.

Therefore we can use the Pythagoras theorom here

i.e ac^2 =ab^2 +bc^2

Here ac=17m and bc=15m

=》17^2=ab^2 +15^2

=》289=ab^2+225

=》289-225=ab^2

=》64=ab^2

=》ab^2=64

=》ab=8

Therefore the distance from the foot of the ladder to the wall is 8m.

In ΔABC, by Pythagoras theorem AB2 + BC2 = AC2 ⇒ 152 + BC2 = 172 ⇒ 225 + BC2 = 172 ⇒ BC3 = 289 − 225 ⇒ BC2 = 64 ⇒ BC = 8 m Distance of the foot of the ladder from building =8
