A laboratory thermometer A is kept 7 cm away on the side of the flame while a similar thermometer B is kept 7 cm above the flame of a candle as shown in figure. Which of the thermometers A or B will show a greater rise in temperature?

Explanation:

Just suppose you are heating water and milk, suppose milk is thermometer A and water is thermometer B so water is above gas we can say thermometer B is just above the gas or flame but thermometer A is away from the gas or flame which is milk because milk is thermometer A so heat will pass through water but heat cannot be passes through milk. So thermometer B will get more heat and thermometer A will not get any heat.
