A labourer is engaged for 30 days on the condition that he will be paid ₹80 for each day he works and he will be fined ₹10 for each day he is absent. If he was finally paid ₹1860, how many days did he come to work?

⇒ Let number of days labourer did work =xdays
⇒ Then number of days he was absent =(30−x)days
⇒ Amount for days he worked =60x
⇒ Amount cut for days he was absent =10(30−x)=300−10x
According to the question,
60x−(300−10x)=1700
60x−300+10x=1700
50x−300=1700
50x=1400
x=
50
1400
∴ x=28days
⇒ Absent days =30−28=2days
∴ A labourer remain absent for 2days.
