A labourer is engaged for 30 days on the condition that he will be paid 280 for each day he works and he will be fined 10 for each day he is absent. If he was finally paid 1860, how many days did he come to work?​

Let number of days labourer did work =xdays

⇒ Then number of days he was absent =(30−x)days

⇒ Amount for days he worked =60x

⇒ Amount cut for days he was absent =10(30−x)=300−10x

According to the question,

60x−(300−10x)=1700

60x−300+10x=1700

50x−300=1700

50x=1400

x=

50

1400

∴ x=28days

⇒ Absent days =30−28=2days

∴ A labourer remain absent for 2days.
