Let the number of days he worked be x.

Let the number of days he didn't worked be y.

According to question,

$x+y=30\\\\\implies x=30-y ----------------------(I)$

Payment he will be getting per day if worked $=Rs. 260$

Payment deduction or fine  if he not works $=Rs. 100$

$260x+(-100)y=5640\\\\\implies260x-100(30-x)=5640 ------------(from \ equation (i) )$

$\implies 260x-3000+100x=5640\\\\\implies 360x=5640+3000=8640\\\\\implies x=\frac{8640}{360}\\ \\\implies x=24$

Hence he worked for 24 days in a month of 30 days.
