suppose he was present for = x days
then absent for = 30-x days

now equation would be

 x (60) - (30-x)(10) =  1380

60x - 300 + 10x = 1380

70x = 1380+300 = 1680

x = 1680/70 = 24

Thus he was at work for 24 days.

The laborer worked for a total of 24 days in the month.

Given:

Number of days for which the laborer is hired = 30

Amount received for working 1 day = Rs 60

Amount deducted for being absent each day = Rs 10

Total amount received by the laborer at the end of the day = Rs 1380

To Find:

The number of days that the laborer works

Solution:

Let the number of days the laborer works be x

Thus, the number of days he is absent = (30 - x)

Now, we can form the following equation-

60x - 10(30 - x) = 1380

60x - 300 + 10x = 1380

70x - 300 = 1380

70x = 1680

x = 1680/70

x = 24

Thus, the number of days the laborer worked is 24.
