Let the lad's age be L and the friends age be F

Now according to lad's statement , "the number you get when you subtract 25 times my age from twice the square of my age will be thrice of your age"

2L² - 25L = 3F
Since F is given to be 14, so

2L² - 25L = 3 x 14
2L² - 25L = 42
2L² - 25L - 42 = 0

Now by solving this equation , we get
L = 14 Or L = -1.5
Since age can't be negative so, lad's age will be 14.
