\bold{\huge{\fbox{\color{Black}{Given}}}}

  • Length of ladder = 10m

  • Height of Building from ground = 8m

\bold{\huge{\fbox{\color{Black}{Find}}}}

  • Distance of the foot of the ladder from the building.

\bold{\huge{\fbox{\color{Black}{Solution}}}}

  • Let AB be the height of ladder = 10m

  • Let BC be length of building = 8m

  • Let AC be the length between foot of the ladder and building

Then,

According to Pythagoras theorem,

We get,

 =  &gt;  {(</u></strong><strong><u>AB</u></strong><strong><u>)}^{2}  =  {(</u></strong><strong><u>BC</u></strong><strong><u>)}^{2}  +  {(</u></strong><strong><u>AC</u></strong><strong><u>)}^{2}  \\  =  &gt;  {(10)}^{2}  =  {(8)}^{2}  +  {(</u></strong><strong><u>AC</u></strong><strong><u>)}^{2}  \\  =  &gt;  {(</u></strong><strong><u>AC</u></strong><strong><u>)}^{2}  = 100 - 64 = 36 \\  =  &gt; </u></strong><strong><u>AC</u></strong><strong><u> =  \sqrt{36}  = 6m

Hence,

The distance from foot of the ladder to building is 6m
