So, by using Pythagoras theorem

(AC)^2=(BC)^2+(AB)^2

Let AC=13, BC=K and AB=12

(13)^2=(K)^2+(12)^2

169=k^2+144

169-144=k^2

25=k^2

√25=K

K=5
