first you draw a triangle according to your question base=8
hypotenuse=17
17^2=8^2+h^2
289=64+h^2
289-64=h^2
225=h^2
h=15

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

Hence , By Pythagoras Therom,
 {8}^{2} + {x}^{2} = {17}^{2}
 = \: {x}^{2} = {17}^{2} - {8}^{2}
 = {x}^{2} = \: 289 - 64 = 225
therefore
x = \: \sqrt{225}
So,
x = \: 15m
