first draw a right angle triangle which ab,bc and ac

take an angle at c side opp to it is ladder which is ac is=17m and adjacent which is bc=8m distance

we need to find

thn

ATQ,

APPLY PHYTHATGORES THEOREM

AC

ac ^{2}  = ab {}^{2}  + bc {}^{2}

17

17 {}^{2}  = ab {}^{2}  + 8 {}^{2}

ab

ab {}^{2}  = 289 + 64

ab {}^{2}  = 353

ab =  \sqrt{353}

ab=18.78m
