Given:

Ladder is placed against the wall

Distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall = 5 m

Height above the ground = 5√3 m

To find:

The length of the ladder.

Solution:

As the ladder is placed in such a position,

It forms a right angled triangle.

By applying Pyhtogorean theorem,

The length of the ladder is the hypotenuse.

Therefore,

( Length of ladder )^2 = ( Height above the ground )^2 + ( Distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall )^2

Substituting,

( Length of ladder )^2 = ( 5√3 )^2 + ( 5 )^2

( Length of ladder )^2 = 25 ( 3 ) + 25

( Length of ladder )^2 = 75 + 25

( Length of ladder )^2 = 100

Hence,

Length of ladder = 10 m
