Height=12m=perpendicular

Distance=5m=base

length of ladder=?=hypotenuse=x

According to pythagoras theorem,

 {x}^{2} = {base}^{2} + {perpendicuar }^{2}

 {x}^{2} = {5}^{2} + {12}^{2}

 {x}^{2} = 25 + 144

 {x}^{2} = 169

x = \sqrt{169}

x = 13

Answer:
The length of the ladder is 13m.
