AB is the height of the building = 14 m

BC is the distance between the foot of the ladder and the building = 6 m

And, AC is the height of the ladder.

And, obviously, a building would stand perpendicular to the ground, i.e., angle B is 90°


• That gives us a right angle triangle angled at B.

• So, side opposite to angle B, i.e., AC is the hypotenuse.




[] Then, by Pythagoras' Theorem,

AC² = AB² + BC²

=> AC² = 14² + 6²

=> AC² = 196 + 36

=> AC² = 232

=> AC = √232

=> AC = 15.23 m (approx)

•°• The height of the ladder = AC = 15.23 m.
