Answer: 24

Step - by - step :-

a square + b square = c square

Answer is :-

7 square + b square = 25 square

49 + b square = 625

b square = 625 - 49

b square = 576

b = √576

b = 24

\huge\mathfrak\blue{Answer:}

Given:

  • We have been given that a ladder 25 m long reaches a window 7 m above the ground

To Find:

  • We have to find the distance of feet of ladder from the base of wall

Solution:

Let In ∆ ABC

AB = Height of window from ground

AC = Length of ladder

BC = Distance between feet of ladder and wall

Using Pythagoras Theorm

  =  >  {AB}^{2}  +  {BC}^{2}  =  {AC}^{2}

 =  >    {(7)}^{2}  +  {BC}^{2}  =  {(25)}^{2}

 =  >  {BC}^{2}  =  {(25)}^{2}  -  {(7)}^{2}

 =  >  {BC}^{2}  = 625 - 49

 =  >  {BC}^{2}  = 576

 =  > BC =  \sqrt{576}

 =  > BC = 24 \: m

Hence the distance between feet of ladder and base of wall is 24 m
