Answer :-

Let the width of the road is x m .

so,

→ (width of road)² + (height)² = (Length of ladder)² { By pythagoras theorem .}

→ x² + 5² = 13²

→ x² = 13² - 5²

→ x² = 169 - 25

→ x² = 144

→ x² = 12²

→ x = 12 cm (Ans.)

Hence, width of road will be 12 cm .
