By using Pythagoras theorem: under root of 8*8 +15*15=64 +225=289=17 m

That's all.

Let ABC be a triangle, such that,

the length of ladder (AC) =x m

the distance of foot of ladder from

foot of building (BC) =8 m

the height of window of building

(AB) = 15 m

By Pythagoras Theorem, we have

AC square = AB square + BC square

=>AC square = (15) ^2 + (8 )^2

=>AC square=225 + 64

=>AC square=289

=>AC = √289

=>AC = 17

Thus, the length of ladder=17 m
