length of the ladder = √(144+81)
= 15
initially height of the wall = 12
now
height of the wall =√ {15^2 - (9 + 3)^2}
= √(225 - 144)
= 9
hence the ladder will slide down 3cm (i.e (12 - 9) cm= 3cm) lower
