Answer: the ladder will be lowered from 3 m

Step-by-step explanation:

Use the pythagorus therom

The height =12m

The length between the ladder and the wall =9 m

Length of the ladder =a

a^2 =b^2 + c^2

= 12^2 + 9^2

= 144+ 81

= 225

a = 15 m

Now , the length in between the ladder and the wall is

9 + 3 = 12m

a^2 =b^2 + c^2

15^2 = b^2 + 12^2

225 - 144 =b^2

81 =b^2

9 m = b = the new height

The ladder was lowered from 12 -9 = 3m
