A ladder which is 7.8 m long is placed on the ground 4.7 m from a vertical wall and then leaned over to the wall. How high up the wall can the ladder reach? Give your answer rounded to 1 DP.

Answer:

From the question, it is clear that hypotenuse=7.8,  base=4.7

Therefore to find Height;

root(h^2-b^2)=height

=root(7.8^2-4.7^2)=height

=root(60.84-22.09)=height

=root(38.75)=height

Therefore, Height=6.22m
