Let the no. Of 25p coins be x and 50p coins 40-x
Value of 25p coins = 25x
Value of 50p coins = 50(40-x)
=2000-50x
Now,
According to question
25x + 2000-50x = 12.50 * 100
-30x =1250-2000
-30x= -750
30x=750
X = 750/30
X= 25

Now no. Of 25p coins= 25
No. Of 50p coins= 40-25
= 15

Answer:

There are 25 coins of 25 p and 15 coins of 50 p.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the no. of 25p coins be x

Now we are given that there are 40 coins in total.

So, no. of  50p coins 40-x

Value of 25p coins = 25x

Value of 50p coins = 50(40-x) =2000-50x

Now,we are given that she has 40 coins totaling Rs.12.50

According to question

25x + 2000-50x = 12.50 \times 100

-30x =1250-2000

-30x= -750

30x=750

x = \frac{750}{30}

x= 25

Now no. of 25p coins= 25

No. of 50p coins= 40-25= 15

Thus there are 25 coins of 25 p and 15 coins of 50 p.
