A lady has some 50 paise coins and some 25 paise coins in her purse. If in all she has 55 coins totaling rs.21.25 then how many 50 paise coins she has

Solution:-

Let the 50 paise Coins be "x" and 25 paise coins be "y".

Condition |,

Total Number of Coin that a Lady has is 55.

=) x + y = 55.________(1)

Condition ||,

The Total Amount that Lady has is ₹21.25.

=) 50x (in paisa) + 25y (in paisa) = ₹ 21.25

Converting Rupeein Paisa. We get

=) 50x + 25y = 2125_______(2)

By Elimination Method,

Multiplying eq (1) by 25.

=) 25 ( x+y) = 25 × 55

=) 25x + 25y = 1375

Now,

25x + 25y = 1375

50x + 25y = 2125

---------------

-25x. = -750

=) x = 750/25

=) x = 30.

Putting x=30 in eq(1). we get,

=) 30 + y = 55

=) y = 25.

Hence,

50 Paise Coins = x = 30.

25 Paise Coins = y = 25.
