Given :  A lady makes tea for his family members and herself in a cylindrical vessel of radius 10.5 cm and height 10 cm.

The volume of tea is 40 percent of the vessel's volume.

each one of the members of the family drinks 49 cm³ tea,

To find :  the total number of members in the family.

Solution:

Volume of a cylinder = πr²h

r = 10.5 cm

h = 10 cm

π = 22/7

Volume of the vessel = (22/7) (10.5)² * 10

= 3465 cm³

Tea inside vessel = (40/100) 3465 = 1,386   cm³

each one of the members of the family drinks 49 cm³

number of the members = 1,386/ 49

=> number of the members = 28.28

approx 28 members

if each member drinks   49π cm³

Then Volume of the vessel = π (10.5)² * 10 = 1102.5π cm³

Tea inside vessel = (40/100)1102.5π = 441π   cm³

each one of the members of the family drinks 49π cm³

number of the members = 441π/ 49π = 9

Number of members in the family = 9
