let the no.of Rs500 notes be x

and no.of Rs 1000 notes be 175-x

ATQ,500x+1000(175-x)=100000

500x=75000

x =75000/500=150

therefore,no.of Rs500 notes =x=Rs150

and no.of Rs1000 notes =175-x=175-150=25
