Answer:

9.19

Explanation:

Let the lamp has resistence = R

voltage drop in lamp = 100v

power = 50 w

P=V I

current I = P/V

               = 50/100

               =1/2 A

Capacitor connecter in series

P = V²/R                                                  , Volt = 200 v

R = 100²/50

   = 200

For AC.    V = 200 V

                W = 50 Hz

I = V/Z

1/2 =200/√R² + xc²                 x c= capacitive resistence

x c = 1/2x wc

solving for c

1/2√R² + xc² = 200

1/2 = 200/√(100)² + 1/2 + 50 x c

we get  C = 9.19 HF
