A lawn is in the shape of a semicircle of diameter 7 metre. It is surrounded by a flowerbed of width 0.7m all around. Find the area of the flowerbed in m^2

Answer:

inner semicircle

r=3.5 m

outer semicircle

R=3.5+0.7=4.2m

area of flower bed =area of outer semicircle -area of inner semicircle

=πR^2/2-πr^2/2

π/2[R^2-r^2]

22/7×2(4.2×4.2 - 3.5×3.5)

=11/7(17.64 - 12.25)

=11/7(5.39)

=11×0.77

=8.47sq.m
