A lead pencil consist of wood with a solid cylinder of graphite filled in the interior. The diameter of the pencil is 7mm and the diameter of the graphite is 1mm . If the length of the pencil is 14cm find the volume of the wood and that of the graphite.

22/7* 14mm²*140mm (1cm=10mm)

=6160mm³

volume of graphite = 22/7 r² H

22/7 *1mm² *140mm

=440mm³

volume of wood =6160mm³ -440mm³

=5720mm³
