Given:

Mass of lead piece = 25g

Calories = 1200

Temperature = 90 to 100.

To Find:

Specific heat and thermal capacity.

Solution:

Mass of lead piece = 25g = 0.025 kg

Heat energy given out = dQ = 1200 × 4.2J

Specific heat = 1/m . dQ/d∅

Thus,

1/ 0.025 x 1200 x 4.2 / 80

1/0.025 x 63

= 2520 Jkg

Thermal capacity = 0.025 x 2520

= 63

Water equivalent = 63/4200

= 0.015

Answer: The thermal capacity is 63J and the water equivalent is 0.015kg.
