Given : 1) Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3.  the bigger number is 6

2)   number compared with 8 is the same as 6 compared with 24?

3) There are 18 red roses for every 6 blue roses.

4) There are 7 children for every 2 adults in a plaza.

5) Two numbers are in the ratio 3 : 5.  their difference is 12

To Find :  1) smaller number

2)   number

3) How many red roses are there if    there are 3 blue roses?

4) How many adults are there, if there are 21 children?

5) what are the numbers?

Solution:

Two numbers are in the ratio 2:3.  the bigger number is 6

Smaller number = S

=> 2/3  = S/6

=> S = 2 * 6/ 3

=> S = 4

x/8  =  6/24

=> x/8  =  1/4

=> x = 8/4

=> x = 2

18 red roses for every 6 blue roses.

18/6  = R/3

=> 3 = R/3

=> R = 3 * 3

=> R = 9

Red roses = 9

There are 7 children for every 2 adults in a plaza.

=> 2/7  = A/21

=> A = 2 * 21 /7

=> A = 6

5x - 3x  = 12

=> 2x = 12

=> x = 6

5x = 30

3x = 18

30 and 18
