A length of pipe was 2 1/3 m long. Another length of pipe was 5/6 m shorter than the first. A plumber joined the two pipes together. What was the total length of the pipe in the end ?​

Given,

Length of the first pipe = 2 ⅓ metres = 7/3 metres

Length of the second pipe = 5/6 metres

Solution,

For calculating,the total length of the joined pipe,we have to add the lengths of the two smaller pipes.

So,the length of the pipe in the end = 7/3 +5/6 = (14+5)/6 = 19/6 = 3⅙ metres

Hence,the total length of the pipe in the end is 3⅙ metres.
