Answer:

Let breadth of plot is b

So, length of plot will be 2b

Area of rectangular plot = length x breadth = 2b x b = \text {2b}^2

Now, side of a square swimming pool is 8 cm.

So, area of a square swimming pool is 8 x 8 = 64 \text { cm}^2

As area of square swimming pool occupies one eighth part of the plot, so

Area of square swimming pool = \cfrac{1}{8} of Area of rectangular plot.

\Rightarrow 64 = \cfrac{1}{8} \times 2\text b^2

\Rightarrow 64 = \cfrac{1}{4} \times \text b^2

\Rightarrow \text b^2 = 256

\Rightarrow \text b = \pm 16\\

Ignoring the negative value, as side cannot be negative.

So, length of plot is 2b = 2 x 16 = 32 cm
