A lens produces a magnification of-0.5. Is this a converging or diverging lens? If the focal length of the lens is 6cm, draw a ray diagram showing the image formation in this case.​

maginification is negative ,therefore image formed is real and inverted. Real and in verted image are always formed in convex or converging lens.

 \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v}  -  \frac{1}{u}  \\  \frac{1}{u}  =  \frac{f - v}{fv}  \\ multiply \: by \: v \: on \: both \: sides \\  \frac{v}{u}  =  \frac{f - v}{f}  \\ m =  \frac{v}{u}  =  \frac{f - v}{f}  \\  - 0.5 =  \frac{6 - v}{6}  \\  - 3 = 6 - v \\ v = 9cm
