Answer:

Total no. of outcomes P(a) = 11

No. of favourable outcomes P(E) = 3

probability of getting M or E = no. of favourable outcome/ total outcomes

=P(E)/P(a)

=3/11

MATHEMATICS

the word mathematics contains 11 letters . in which letter M and A comes twice.

To find :-

the probability of getting the letter M and E choosing randomly from word mathematics.

we know :-

 \sf \: P(E) \:  =  \dfrac{number \: of \: favorable \:outcomes }{number \: of \: all \: possible \: outcomes}  \\

total number of possible outcomes = 11

 \therefore \sf \: probability \: of \: getting \: M \:  =  \dfrac{2}{11}  \\  \\ \sf \: probability \: of \: getting \:  A\:  =   \frac{1}{11}

there are 2 letter of M that's why favourable outcomes is 2 .
