Given:

  • A letter is chosen from the word ‘PROBABILITY’.

To Find:

  • What is the probability that it will be a consonant?

Solution:

  • Consonents are 6
  • Vowels are 3
  • Total,6+3=9

Let the probability of consonant be P(A)

 \sf P(A) = \frac{consonents}{total} \\ = \frac{ \cancel6 \: 2}{ \cancel9 \: 3} = \frac{2}{3} = 0.66
